What we believe

We believe a community should never become so focused on the people coming to visit that it forgets the people who make it worth visiting in the first place.

Jackson has changed enormously over the years. As tourism and development have grown, so has the pressure on the artists, musicians, makers, small businesses, service workers, and longtime locals who give this place its character. Protecting local culture means making sure those people still have a place here, and a reason to stay.

We believe growth and tourism can be part of a healthy community, but they should also give something back. Our work is rooted in supporting the people, ideas, and grassroots efforts that keep a place creative, connected, and distinctly its own.

Horseshoe is our first initiative because protecting Jackson’s culture means investing in the people who create it.

Future initiatives

Looking ahead, the foundation will support other grassroots culture builders through fiscal sponsorship, helping locally rooted ideas access the resources, structure, and support they need to grow while staying true to the communities they serve.

Built from a life in music, and a belief in the people behind the culture

Duane and Lisa have built their lives around music, community, and a simple belief: support the people and places that give a culture its soul. The foundation carries that belief forward by investing in the artists, makers, small businesses, and grassroots leaders who make a community worth belonging to.

Horseshoe began as a small gathering in Jackson Hole and grew into a weekend rooted in music, food, craft, and connection. It became proof that when you build from the ground up, with intention, authenticity and the community at the center, something meaningful can take hold.

The foundation exists to carry that spirit forward, creating and supporting initiatives that protect local culture and help the people behind it thrive.
