Our story
The foundation is built around a few simple commitments: keep the work personal and intentional, stay rooted in community, and make sure what we build gives back to the places and people it comes from.
Duane and Lisa
Duane is a guitarist and songwriter who grew up inside a musical tradition that has shaped nearly every part of his life. His father, Dickey Betts, was a founding guitarist of the Allman Brothers Band, and Duane grew up surrounded by the craft, discipline, and community that come with a life in music.
Lisa came to this work through design. After years in the outdoor and ski industry, she began creating one-of-a-kind jackets and accessories using handmade textiles sourced from around the world, deepening her appreciation for craftsmanship, slow fashion, and the people behind the things we value.
Together, they share a belief in the power of music, creativity, and community, and in protecting the people and places that keep culture alive.

How it started
Horseshoe grew from a feeling that something was missing in Jackson. Lisa envisioned a gathering that brought together the things that mattered most to both of them: great music, food made with love, slow fashion, wellness, and genuine connection.
What began as an intimate idea became a celebration of the people, creativity, and traditions that give a place its character. Horseshoe became the first expression of that shared vision, and ultimately the inspiration for a foundation built to carry it forward.
What we believe
Give back to the place you love. If you are fortunate enough to live in a place you love, you owe that place your protection for its people and the community that makes it a home.
We believe culture is built from the ground up, by artists, musicians, makers, small businesses, and the people who create places worth belonging to.
We believe the strongest communities are the ones that protect what makes them distinct, support the people doing meaningful work, and create room for new ideas to grow without losing their roots.
We believe in thoughtful growth, genuine connection, and putting resources back into the communities that inspire the work in the first place.
Where this goes
The foundation is young and expanding quickly to support communities in and beyond Wyoming. The dedication is to build systems that back artists, makers and gatherings that hold a community together, and to support them in ways that outlast a single weekend. Each new initiative will appear on this site as they launch.
